ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday reacted to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s remarks in a public rally after a landslide victory in Azad Jammu Kashmir’s (AJK) general elections.
The prime minister addressed a public gathering in Muzaffarabad, where his party clinched majority seats of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Nawaz took a dig at his political rivals and taunted, “Will those who grabbed merely two seats in the Azad Kashmir polls, be able to run a movement in the country?” He also said, “Progress and success in politics are attainable only through development, not through sit-ins.”
Commenting on Nawaz Sharif’s remarks, PTI Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen said that the prime minister is overly obsessed with sit-ins and his tone and tenor reflects a defeated mindset. PTI took part in the AJK elections for the first time, Tareen asserted and said, “We have laid the foundation of change in Azad Jammu Kashmir by taking part in the polls.”
